History
For more than 200 years the United States of America has been everchanging. The first settlers were the Indigenous peoples who migrated from Asia into North America. Slowly European explorers came upon America as they searched a route to Asia. Thus began American colonialism. Most people who came in the 1600s to the colonies were British but many others came from the Netherlands, Ireland and other European countries. In the 1700s the 13 colonies of Britain rose in size and economic stability. Those colonies didn’t intend to remain under British control, and the American Revolution took place, rendering America an independent nation. They went through a civil war over slavery and the Union won banning slavery and freed African-American slaves. The land became less wild. Cities increased in population as more immigrants arrived in the U.S. with hopes of living better. The USA engaged in WW1 and WW2 and experienced the Great Depression. Following these wars, America was in the Cold War with the Soviet Union, and this period led to many scientific advancements and the Space Race. America is an international power, which continues to undergo many improvements.
